不只视觉大饱眼福，〈大城小食The Food & City〉甜品製作由台湾台南精品甜点Start Boulangerie 透析法国经典甜点的味道组合，搭配个性鲜明的中式食材，如茯苓、薏仁、桂圆、红枣、花椒等，将传统糕饼内常见的馅料拆解搭配「节气」发散，带来全新的调和味觉世界观。快和我们一起用创意组装您的大城小食故事吧！

In London Design Biennale 2016, Taiwan's installation, Eatopia, celebrates diversity in the pursuit of a utopian state, and offers visitors a unique culinary experience in a tranquil forest-like setting. In More's Utopia, a contented community eats lunch and dinner together every day, and food is always plentiful. These meals play a crucial part in creating the ideal society's strong social bond. For the Biennale, architect Rain Wu and designer Shikai Tseng have rethought the utopian dining experience with a constructivist menu designed to explore the creative melting pot of Taiwanese identities. The installation promises to engage all of the visitors' senses, to refresh and provide 'food for thought'.

Eataipei is a series of immersive culinary performances. It took place at Tent London in September 2015, introducing Taipei as the World Design Capital in 2016 through a innovative presentation of food design and selected contemporary Taiwanese design.
Eataipei offered tasting sessions of five dishes curated by designer Shikai Tseng and architect Rain Wu, and created by chef Chung-Ho Tsai, within Tent London's Country Showcases presentation, providing a taster - both literally and metaphorically - of what is to come next year when Taipei holds the honorary title of World Design Capital 2016. In anticipation of this exciting event, Eataipei will explore "the best kept secret of Asia" during this year's London Design Festival, showing Taipei as a modern city with deep and diverse histories, inspiring natural contrasts, vibrant commerce and spectacular architecture.
The food performance will take place alongside an exhibition That showcases the best contemporary design from Taipei including lighting, ceramics and industrial design from designers such as Pili Wu and KIMU Design Studio. The work displayed will reinforce the narratives from the food and performances reveal the rich design practices from this inspiring metropolis.
“Bamboo Forest” is a project created by Shikai Tseng ( with Hanhsi Chen during Poetic Lab period). The collection includes 8 pieces of furniture and lighting conceived by bamboo and glass. This project aims to explore new possibilities with traditional craftsmanship and contemporary production industry.
Bamboo furniture is typically shaped from a very craft perspective where the beauty comes from the skill. We perceive a particular kind of beauty from bamboo in its original from - the bamboo forests, a combination between elegant shapes and gentle movements. We love its somehow random yet pure beauty, almost as if you can hear the wind whispering among them. Thus we decided to use bamboo material with minimum touch, retaining the aesthetic of the raw material itself.
Benefit from its original tube shape, we reinforce the bamboo pole’s physical property by creating a cost-effective process using stainless steel structure and special resin, we also benefit from this process to create a very minimal yet super strong joint with glass. This process not only creates more possibilities for the industrial process, but also prevent bamboo poles from cracking due to different humidity ‒ the main reason why none of the contemporary furniture uses the original bamboo poles.
This special process with heavy research and countless experiments was made possible by the collaboration with Poetic Lab, Yokoyama - the top Bamboo supplier from Japan, and one of the best UK workshop ‒ Windsor Workshop. This collection is a statement that the crafty material like bamboo pole can also be used on contemporary furniture without break it’s original beauty, as we believe the natural already show us the best state of the material.
The “Bamboo Forest Collection” includes 8 pieces of furniture and lighting - three coffee tables, one rectangular dinning table, one round dinning table, one shelving system and two sets of pendant lights. The combination of bamboo poles and transparent glass create a somehow undefined void space within the pieces, where the objects placed on the table or shelf seemly to be floating inside this void.

Align is a kickstarter project created by Poetic lab when Shikai was still in the team. With its pen body dislocated in the middle, tempting you to “align” the shape and activate the pen’s function. It is an exquisite pen that breaks the norm of pen design, creating a elegant piece of micro sculpture with functionality.
The project was successful funded and now already become one of the products and sold by international design brand - Beyond Object.
Beyond Object is a London based design brand designing, manufacturing and distributing poetic products and objects globally - including desktop objects, accessories and tableware.
Shikai was one of the co-founder from mid of 2013 - mid of 2015 and been involved to build the foundation of the brand and it's desktop collection.
The vision of the brand is to probe the values beyond the physical form itself, creating logical sculptures that servers the daily needs of people. The core of their design value is about finding and expressing the quintessential quality of things from function, material or metaphor. While daring to challenge the norms, Beyond Object’s creations are different in a pure and minimal way of expression ; stressing emphasise on both physical making quality and metaphysical space for imagination.
The brand caught the eyes of major buyers around the globe with its outstanding designs. You can find our products at renowned boutiques like MoMA, Centre Pompidou, Harrods, Conran Shop, 10 Corso Como, Lane Crawford and Luminaire, to name a few.

The Ripple Project studies the beauty of glass. When a beam of light is projected through the gently rotating mouth-blown glass dome, shadow and light form a breathtaking, ever-changing pattern, where the aesthetic goes beyond the material itself.
The process of making this project includes both tradition glass craft skills and modern production engineering of the moving parts. The designers realised that the beauty of glass lies in the uneven surface resulted from the traditional mouth-blowing process. While the craft skill freezes the beauty of glass in time, the elegant and precise rotation brings the flow of material back to life, as if the dome exists with an uncertainty.

YanJian, a small village in Henan Province, more than 30% of people live there are involved into the same business - copying and selling ancient bronze pieces. The pieces they made are used to be sold on the antique markets or become the souvenir in the museums and shops. They changed their homes become workshops, build traditional kilns and hire their families and friends. These people build many amazing replicas by limit resource and tools. Also, this business keep young people staying in the village, instead of going to other big cities for earning money to feed their families.
Nowadays, more than 1100 people, two hundred companies are all doing this bronze replica business, but the products they sell are almost the same, replicas.
The "Bronze China" project is the first step of reconfigure this situation, and aim to bring new concepts to this place －originality, creativity, honest and fair trading. In another words, to cooperate with the local craftsmen to create new objects which could fit in our current society, with new form and new meaning.
To communicate with local company and craftsmen, ShiKai Tseng stay in this village for 3 weeks, deeply understand their process – soil sculpting, wax carving, mold making, lost wax casting, welding and antique techniques. He creates “Bronze China” collection in the end, applying or innovate their existing skills on to different objects.

PhotoGraphy is the creation of a process in which the environment, time and light react to one other to generate images on three-dimensional objects. The project is about coating objects with a “light-sensitive” layer, then putting them in a black box with strategically placed pinholes and exposing them for 5 to 50 minutes depending on the brightness of the environment. It is a new way of capturing a moment in time, whether the image on the object is focused or not is of no importance – the object will carry the trace of the first moments of the experience, its first exposure.

“The Door” is a conceptual illumination which is developed base on the memory and experience that everyone has.
My exploration led me to focus on the nostalgia and poignant attachment either falsely or experientially embedded in our memories, to the childhood comfort of the light from the gap in the door as an affirmation of our safe slumbers. I found the piece to be very affecting and the reactions of the experiencer’s to draw on the strong felt memory connected to physical sensation.
Alternatively, one may recall a similar but adverse scene—a very dark room.. there is a bit of light seeping through the slit between the door and the frame.. behind the door, there might be a shaking shadow.. you don’t know what it is, what will you see, or who will you meet. There are lots of possibilities: fear and fantasy in the audience’s mind.
